Mobile Crane Inspection

Comprehensive inspection and certification of mobile cranes to ensure structural integrity, safe lifting operations, and full compliance with international standards.

Ensuring Safe Crane Operations

Mobile cranes are among the most critical and high-risk equipment used in oil and gas operations, construction, and industrial projects. Any structural defect, mechanical failure, or operational malfunction can result in catastrophic load drops, equipment damage, injuries, or fatalities. Regular inspection and certification of mobile cranes is essential to ensure they remain safe, reliable, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Well Guard Inspection Services provides thorough mobile crane inspections conducted by qualified inspectors with deep knowledge of crane systems, load charts, and applicable safety standards. We help clients verify that their cranes are fit for service and safe to operate under intended conditions.

Mobile crane inspection process

Inspection Scope

Structural Inspection

Visual and NDT inspection of boom sections, jib, turntable, chassis, outrigger beams, and all structural members for cracks, deformation, corrosion, and weld integrity.

Wire Rope & Sheaves

Examination of all wire ropes for broken wires, abrasion, corrosion, kinking, and proper reeving. Inspection of sheaves for wear, groove damage, and bearing condition.

Hydraulic System

Inspection of hydraulic cylinders, hoses, fittings, pumps, and control valves for leaks, damage, proper operation, and pressure integrity.

Safety Devices

Verification of all safety devices including load moment indicator (LMI), anti-two-block system, boom angle indicator, outrigger interlocks, and emergency stop functions.

Load Testing

Witnessing and verification of load testing at rated capacity percentages to confirm crane performance and structural integrity under load conditions.

Documentation Review

Review of crane logbook, maintenance records, previous inspection reports, load charts, and operator certifications to verify compliance history.

Inspection Process

1

Pre-Inspection Review

Review of crane specifications, maintenance history, previous inspection findings, and applicable standards. Planning of inspection scope and test requirements.

2

Visual & Structural Inspection

Comprehensive visual examination of all structural components, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and operator controls. NDT of critical welds and stress points.

3

Functional Testing

Operational testing of all crane functions including hoisting, slewing, luffing, telescoping, and travel. Verification of all safety device operation and emergency systems.

4

Load Testing & Certification

Static and dynamic load testing at specified percentages of rated capacity. Documentation of test results and issuance of inspection certificate upon satisfactory completion.
